GreenLiteCT Initiative

Greendiesel Company an energy management company has sponsored a community energy saving project- Greenlite Connecticut. GreenliteCT mission is to install energy saving technology in residential electrical rate payer’s home or apartment. This initiative is design to conserve energy and reduce rate payer's electrical cost by utilizing new technology such as the new CFL light bulbs and other energy saving devices. This project will be responsible for the distributing to CT rate payers 3,000,000 CFL light bulbs in approximately 88,000 homes. This will save rate payers approximately 30% off their annual electrical utility bill and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1,000,000 tons from entering the atmosphere.

Electricity Savings

GreenLiteCt states that the proposed Project will result in reduced use of electricity for lighting based on the lower rate of electric consumption for equal luminosity of CFLs as opposed to conventional incandescent lightbulbs.  Electrical savings will be calculated based on the consumption differential. GreenLiteCt indicates it may utilize the UI and CL&P Program Savings Documentation for 2009 Program Year (2009 PSD) to calculate energy savings. The Company indicated that it will utilize an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved rater as part of an M&V program.
